Merkel surrenders, posts bond
TROY – A former Lincoln County sheriff’s deputy accused of lying under oath resulting in the murder conviction of an innocent man turned himself in today a week after being charged with felony perjury. Michael Allen Merkel, 44, surrendered during a bond reduction hearing Tuesday afternoon.
